Summary:The Planner at the Cottonwood Plant is responsible for planning and prioritizing all maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance, planned and unplanned outages. Attention to safety and the environment, condition of plant equipment, and application of appropriate risk will be used when prioritizing work. The Planner must have excellent communications skills, be able to work well with Operations and Maintenance. The Planner must have competent computer skills with the ability to be proficient in SAP.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports and emphasizes importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance

  • Provides detailed planning by developing scopes of work, identifying and estimating manpower and material requirements, and identifying all associated activities required to accomplish the work

  • Effectively utilizes the plant s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document the detailed plans developed and secure material needed.

  • Utilizes company scheduling tools to reflect a productive schedule.

  • Plans jobs and ensures the plan is effectively documented, communicated and implemented

  • Performs field inspections of job sites and work in progress providing input for any needed changes to the original work plan

  • Promotes productivity and teamwork in assigned area with open communication, timely decision making, and use of personal leadership skills to set high standards of performance while providing the direction necessary to achieve that performance

  • Promotes and supports the development of technical, leadership, and business skills of employees to carry out responsibilities in a competitive environment

  • Provides regular feedback to employees on their performance to allow them to capitalize on their strengths and focus on opportunities for improvement

  • Demonstrates behavior that encourages and rewards employee involvement, innovative thinking, adaptation to change, responsible risk taking, customer focus, and continuous improvement

  • Ensures development and implementation of assigned area goals, objectives, and initiatives

  • Reviews project specific performance with customers and addresses opportunities for improvement

  • Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner, estimates resource requirements, monitors expenditures, and reports on performance of assigned area

  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in plant electrical, mechanical, or I&C maintenance.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to use planning tools, specifically the company CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

  • Strong SAP and PASTA skills preferred.

  • Previous experience in a planning role.

  • Proficient in Primavera

  • Knowledge of power plant systems and operation, and comprehensive knowledge of maintenance practice and procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals

  • Ability to use the company scheduling software

  • Ability to use a personal computer and standard business software

  • Ability to read, write and understand English

  • Demonstrated sound business skills necessary to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

  • Coordinates manpower requirements with maintenance crafts, operations, and contractors

  • Ensures development of work plans and schedules for all outages or other events as required

  • Ability to perform as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team environment and achieve consensus decisions

  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities

  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and/or power plant environment

  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Texas Driver s License

  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required

  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)

  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals

  • Requires operation of a personal computer
