- NRG is seeking candidates to fulfill the duties of nuclear oversight reporting to the Vice President Asset Management Gulf Coast. The Manager of Nuclear Oversight is responsible for managing day to day interactions and providing NRG oversight of key business activities including safety, emergency preparedness, risk management, budget performance, safety and operational performance of the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Committee (STPNOC), in its role as the operating company.
Serves as the main point of contact between NRG and STPNOC on key business issues;
Provides due diligence and day-to-day oversight of facility operations;
Ensures NRG is diligent in its role as an owner of the nuclear facility by evaluating compliance of the STPNOC s operating activities with legal and regulatory requirements;
Conducts active oversight of the STPNOC s safety performance through analysis, evaluation, and comparison to good industry practice and health, safety, security and environmental metrics;
Maintains an awareness of activities and on-site presence at the South Texas Project in order to communicate emerging or emergent operational and financial performance issues as well as critical information to key internal stakeholders, STPNOC and other Owners;
Leads the development of performance metrics and incentives for STPNOC s operational activities and provide detailed evaluations of the operating company;
Performs regular facility walk-downsdocumenting/communicating evaluations and recommending corrective actions;
Monitors STPNOC and subcontractor integrated work control activities;
Is accountable for communicating emergency preparedness, drills and response intelligence to internal customers including corporate communications, trading and senior management;
Directs and integrates STPNOC s emergency protocols with NRG s business continuity program in order to facilitate effective implementation under emergency conditions;
Participates in the development and monitoring of STP s annual budget including reporting emergent budget issues to key stakeholders; Collaborates with STP, NRG stakeholders and other Owner representatives to develop STPNOC s multi-year Business Plan including, annual budget and budget projection, generation and outage plans, staffing plans, plant investment plans and incentive compensation plan performance goals;
Participates in decommissioning cost studies and ensures effective communication between treasury, government affairs, regulatory and the operating company with regards to regulatory filings;
Provides weekly reporting to Vice President Asset Management Gulf Region on the status of STP s health, safety, security and environment programs;
Serves as NRG s alternate representative on the STP Owner s Committee and participates in Board meetings, Owner s workshops and provides budget guidance to STPNOC;

This position is located in Houston, Texas
Travel between Houston, TX. and Wadsworth, TX. required (70/30% split)
BS in business, engineering or technical discipline with 10 years industry experience;
Extensive nuclear operational experience;
Good working knowledge of the nuclear regulatory framework;
Extensive knowledge of best practices for nuclear operations (e.g., INPO, EUCG, etc);
Possess a general understanding of nuclear plant operations and the interplay of safety and security with disciplined operations;
Possess specific knowledge of contents and requirements of health, safety, security and environmental programs, particularly with respect to the US NRC regulatory and legal framework;
Demonstrated skills in team building and group leadership;
Must be able to obtain and maintain site security clearance;
Must possess excellent communication skills; be able to communicate complex concepts simply and clearly to a broad range of audiences including operations and maintenance staff, NRG and STPNOC executive teams, peers, the STPNOC Board of Directors and other stakeholders as required.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license and be willing and able to drive to various work locations.
- Fluent with PC and Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Able to safely handle and work with objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Able to report to the work site without transportation assistance.
Ability to climb stairs unassisted.
Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.
Able to travel as required.
