The Maintenance Planner performs on-site maintenance planning/coordinating activities including basic engineered functions for maintenance and operating functions, including planning, scheduling, directing, coordinating, and reporting to ensure that the maintenance work effort attains the highest practical levels of efficiency, productivity and reporting. This includes providing engineered solutions, supervision and project management through planning, designing, developing and performing plant specific assignments. Maintain liaison and coordination between the Operating and Maintenance Departments.
Support an injury free work place through active participation of the NRG Safety Program.
On-site planning/coordinating and engineered assignments to address operational maintenance concerns which have an overall effect on station efficiency, reliability or availability. Develop design modifications or operating and maintenance procedures to predict or prevent costly failures. Develop complete work plans for repairs, modifications and overhauls.
Plan projects and activities by establishing correct benchmark times based upon work content analysis. Specify, in detail, number of craft personnel required and allowed labor-hours for the job along with equipment isolation and material requirements.
Provide support as needed to maintenance and operating departments on emergency and urgent work. Coordinate daily schedules with Operating and Maintenance Departments.
Schedule and conduct meetings with station supervision to refine schedules and make arrangements to accomplish the planned work.
Make recommendations concerning long range maintenance needs and in collaboration with the operations department prepare a weekly forecast of all jobs expected to be scheduled.
Assist Maintenance and Operation s management in analyzing costs and recommend corrective actions to reduce maintenance/operating costs.
Consult with industry personnel, corporate functions, vendors, contractors and consultants regarding information exchange.
Determine requirements of parts, materials, tools, etc. in the execution of the work. Search, specify, solicit and evaluate equipment and services from vendors for engineering and maintenance products and services for technical content and economic value.
Specify preventive maintenance requirements by reviewing technical manuals and equipment history files. Revise procedures, checklists and Preventative Maintenance. Work Orders to optimize preventive maintenance of plant equipment.
Utilize predictive maintenance techniques / data to address incipient failures.
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maintain a backlog for scheduling available maintenance labor-hours. Monitor scheduled versus non-scheduled work performed and labor hours to determine any variation cause. Maintain current up-to-date equipment history records necessary to provide data for analysis to improve reliability or reduce cost through replacement of problem equipment. Secure necessary parts and materials from external sources through required procurement procedures.
Provide information to the management team to measure and trend maintenance productivity, quantity and quality. Make recommendations for system improvements.
Coordinate work activities of contractors, plant personnel, and vendor representatives as required, primarily during outages.
Provide training to plant personnel in formal and informal settings.
High school diploma or GED with 5 years experience in plant electrical, mechanical, or I&C maintenance
Vocational degree in Industrial/Construction Management with 3 years of planning experience in an industrial setting.
Bachelor s degree in Engineering with 1 year of experience in industrial setting.
Demonstrated ability to use planning tools, specifically the company CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Strong SAP and PASTA skills preferred.
Previous experience in a planning role.
Proficient in Primavera
Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
Normal office environment and/or power plant environment
Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Texas Driver s License
Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
